You will be expected to fill out light paperwork and have a very brief
consultation before starting any treatment. Please be on time for your
appointment, showing up late will take time out of your session and throw off the flow of the session. Keep this in mind and give yourself plenty of time to arrive on time. After 15 minutes, you will have to reschedule your appointment. I want you to get the most out of your treatment,
and rushing through the session will only hinder that. Please be mindful
of this when booking.
For reflexology, the only clothing to be removed are shoes and socks. Of course you may remove any jackets or hats as well. Be sure to wear loose comfortable clothing. It is best to leave jewelry at home if you are getting hand or face reflexology. Each reflexology session begins with an aromatherapy foot soak, you will be able to fill out your paperwork during the soak.
The treatment is performed on a massage table very comfortably padded with pillows and a warm blanket for your comfort.
Light relaxing music is included but feel free to bring headphones and your own music if you'd like.
Reflexology is not to be painful at any moment. You may feel areas that are more sensitive than others. That is to be expected.
After your treatment you may feel some effects apart of the healing and detoxing process which can include tiredness, increased urination or bowel movements, or even flu like symptoms. Though this is rare, again it is apart of your body releasing toxins and it is temporary (24-48 hours).
Most people walk away from a reflexology session feeling
- Less stressed
- An increase in energy
- Relief from pain
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and person's general health. For example, reflexology holds that a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the bladder point. When a reflexology practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to apply appropriate pressure to this area, it affects bladder functioning.
Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, millions of people around the world use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like anxiety, asthma, cancer treatment, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis.
Reflexology is recommended as a complementary therapy and should not replace medical treatment.
What is a typical reflexology treatment like?
A typical treatment is 45 minutes to 60 minutes long and begins with a consultation about your health and lifestyle.
You are then asked to remove your shoes and socks and sit comfortably in a reclining chair or on a massage table. Otherwise you remain fully clothed.
The reflexologist will assess the feet and then stimulates various points to identify areas of tenderness or tension.
The reflexologist then uses brisk movements to warm the feet up. Then pressure is applied from the toes to the heel according to your comfort.
Lotion or oil may be used.
Please be sure to cancel 24 hours before your schedules appointment time so that I may give your time slot to a waiting client. Failure to give notice within the appropriate amount of time will result in a $25 cancellation fee.
